According to the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT), the country saw more than 525,000 foreign arrivals in August, raising the total number in the January-August period to nearly 4.4 million, up 9.4 percent against the corresponding time last year.

Vietnam has fulfilled 67.5 percent of its target of 6.5 million foreign visitors this year.

The last four months of every year will be will the peak period of tourism, especially on the occasion of Christmas and New Year, said the VNAT.

The national flag carrier, Vietnam Airlines, has launched a promotion programme which offers discounts of up to 50 percent discount to international flights. (VNA)
